to order. Joe Surma lead the prayer in
the absence of Jim OConnor. Teri Berry
called the roll. The June minutes were
approved as read.
Angela Conrad, Chair of the
Social Concerns, requested the Pastoral Council approve a direct gift of $1500
to help the tornado victims in the Parkersburg area. This gift will be given to Fr. Dennis Quint
to use to help specific families in this area to help get them through the next
several months.
Angela expressed that her
committee felt the need for the gift of money to go directly to the parish and not to go through the Catholic Charities. The committee wanted to make sure that the
Parkersburg victims were the recipients of this gift of $1500.
The request for the direct
gift was approved by consensus.
Faye Hansen has agreed to
continue in the capacity of the music minister at this time and Sherri
Einsweiler has agreed to continue to lead the Resurrection Choir.
Julie Anderson has been
leading the Childrens Choir. Fr.
Kopacek was not sure if Julie would continue with this position but that Faye
Hansen does have some contacts and will continue to pursue this matter.
It is the hope that the
music ministry will be addressed through the Strategic Plan process to help
make this area grow and be more consistent.
Cathy Walz has accepted the
position of Director of Education CVCS.
She will be able to work part time from home.
Amy Sandvold has accepted
the position as principal of Sacred Heart School.
There was no Youth Report
this month due to the absence of Malynda and Lucy, our youth representatives.
Joe Surma explained that the
St. Edward Pastoral Council is responsible every three months for the 8:00 a.m.
9:00 a.m. adoration hour on Sundays.
Joe reminded Gina Berg of her time on June 22 and Cristina Ortiz volunteered
to cover June 29 for Joe and Gladys Oppold.
Volunteers will be needed the month of September for this
responsibility.
Karol reported that this
committee met on June 2 to continue work on ideas on how best to get the survey
to the parish and the concerns/questions that will be included in this
survey. The committee is also looking
for ideas from other parishes of comparable sizes. The next meeting is August 25, 7:00 p.m.
Prior to the Pastoral
Committee meeting, Karol Hoth had an orientation for the new members of the
Pastoral Council and explained the needs for the liaison from the Pastoral
Council Committee to serve on other committees of the parish. The committee openings are the Deanery,
Liturgy, and Finance committees.
Vicki Parsons volunteered
to serve on the Deanery Committee
Dawn Smith volunteered to
serve on the Liturgy Committee
Jim Schaefer volunteered
to serve on the Finance Committee
Karol Rae Hoth distributed
the Pastoral Committee 2008 2009 meeting dates. This will need to be revised and a new set
will be distributed at the July 17 meeting.
All committee members were
given the contact information for the Pastoral Council members. If there are updates or changes, please
e-mail Marilyn Schons.
