Discussion Items/Action/Education:
Guest: Steve Duggan - '08/'09 Parish Budget for Approval
Council Members had received the proposed financial budget prior to the meeting. Steve Duggan was present at the meeting to answer questions and to address areas that needed clarification. A budget of major improvements from the Buildings and Grounds Committee for the next five years was also presented. A review of the revenues and of the expenses show a positive outcome of approximately $163,000. Some items of note are: there is a 3% increase in annual giving and a 4% raise in salaries. The Student Tuition Organization has replaced some of the tuition assistance normally budgeted by the Cedar Valley Catholic Schools so $12,000 less from St. Edward will be given to CVCS. The Social Concerns Committee receives 2.1% of the annual sacrificial giving. Joe Surma moved that the Council accept the projected budget and Fred Freese gave the second. The budget was approved as presented.
Inservice – Dave Cushing – Adult Faith Formation
Dave Cushing presented an overview of adult faith formation in the Waterloo Catholic Parishes from 2006-2008, He then presented a copy of the homepage for the Waterloo Catholic Parishes. Some discussion was held on various topics with the Single Mingle group getting the greatest attention. Dave said their goal is to create environments that are friendly to adults. The more comfort these adults feel with the climate, the more open and trusting they become. More dialog needs to be created between the adults and parish community. Council members lauded Dave for the many offerings he has been able to present our parishes. It was suggested that he enlist volunteer secretarial help so that he can concentrate more on the gatherings than on the paperwork preparation for them. It is evident Dave's contributions to the area of adult faith formation are appreciated.
Job Openings – Joe Surma
Karol Hoth and Gina Burg gave an updated report of the open positions in the CVCS and at our parish.
Two of four interviews have been conducted for the position of Principal at St. Edward School. Two more interviews are scheduled for the coming week.

A slate of officers will be presented to the council on June 19th. Joe asked that anyone with any interesting serving in a lead position, please contact him. He will be making contacts if there are no volunteers.
CVCS St. Edward Representative
Tim Kneeland will run for the open CVCS board position. He is now completing the term for Tim Luce.
The position will be a two year position as the parishes' rotation of members going on and off the CVCS has been confusing. Cathy Walz and the CVCS Board have arranged the rotation that it will be set in a pattern hereafter. Sacred Heart will also elect a member for a two year period this one time.
